The beginning of the school year is the perfect time to put a plan in place to improve your practice. In my dual role as both an educator and a coach, not only do I complete my own self-evaluation and professional improvement plan, but I also help to set up my colleagues on a successful growth track for the upcoming year.

In September, coaches are preparing for the year in many of the same ways as teachers. New and innovative coaching models can help coaches provide real-time feedback; and collaborative strategies like learning walks or learning labs with teacher time-outs can help to build a culture of collaborative, authentic learning among teachers. Finally, coaches are becoming experts on the teachers in their charge, planning for the coaching and support they’ll need to provide so that teachers can reach and teach all students in the room equitably.

If you're looking for additional support, please don’t forget our Coaching Deep Dive, which is chock full of wonderful resources.

Wishing you the best,
