Winter break is upon us, which for me means less time with students and more time for reflection. Even though I try to focus on my family and non-school-related things, my mind and heart always seem to find their way back to my kids. What projects will my students undertake in 2018? How will I become a better teacher for each of them in the new year?

I’m already inspired by some of the content in this week’s newsletter. Check out this video about how one teacher collaborated with two engineers to have her students design wind turbines. It gave me (an ELA teacher!) chills and lots of food for thought about professional collaborations. I was also inspired by Maria Perryman to create an authentic audience for my students through blogging. Take a look at how her class started the process. However you choose to bring in the new year, make it one that works for both you and your students!

And from everyone here at Teaching Channel, Happy Holidays!

Here’s to a well-deserved winter break,
