Eleanor Roosevelt, a civically engaged, politically active, and unconventional first lady once said, “Education is the cornerstone of liberty.” She believed that ordinary people are capable of the most extraordinary things — even when acting was difficult or frightening. Extraordinary things happen in schools every day across this nation, and this week’s new video playlist will give you a window into one amazing program designed for ELLs. Being a newcomer in an American school must be one of those difficult or frightening experiences of which Roosevelt speaks — but you’d never know it watching these kids shine!

Eleanor Roosevelt was also an advocate for women’s rights, and as March comes roaring in, it seems appropriate that we also begin our celebration of Women’s History Month. Women make up approximately 77% of American educators, however the number of women leaders in education is considerably lower. Remember to elevate and celebrate the women around you every day — whether that means integrating women's stories into your curriculum or simply honoring and applauding the hard work and accomplishments of your female colleagues and students. Representation matters!

Let’s hear you roar,
