I'm One in a Million!

Being a math specialist in an elementary school where teachers teach all content areas provides an interesting challenge when planning weekly PLCs. Part of this work involves finding the commonalities among practices in math, science, and ELA. This week, with Earth Day activities all around us, I encourage you to think about how we can connect students’ learning experiences while thinking about both the shared standards and the real world applications that make learning relevant.

Asking students to construct arguments and critique the reasoning of others are such powerful tools in our learning that we would love to see and hear students do this across all content areas. This week, as you check out Teaching Channel’s new podcast about Teaching and Learning with Minecraft and watch the video playlist that illustrates why Tch Laureate Tom Jenkins will March for Science, think about ways to connect students’ learning experiences in the most meaningful ways. And as you try new ideas, don’t forget to tell your story so we can all get better together!
