Hi Member,
Winding down before winter break also instinctively means gearing up for a fresh start. We got a fabulous question recently from a member of our community about that very topic: a restart in January. After watching the video, Setting the Tone from Day One, new teacher Keisha Morrison asked:

“I'm new to teaching…and I did not hold [my students] to my standards... Is there any way I can regain that control at the first day of school in January having allowed the rules to wane in September?"

Keisha, the answer is YES. My Tch colleague Lily Jones added her insight and reassurance: “It's never too late to "restart" your classroom. The beautiful thing about teaching is that you always have a chance to try again and improve.”

See the video that prompted Keisha, as well as the discussion about setting expectations:

Maybe in addition to expectations, you’re also thinking about redefining your classroom culture in the upcoming month. Here are two approaches to inspire your “restart!”

And finally, here’s a link to a blog I wrote a year ago about new beginnings at any time of the year that’s still holding true.
