Notes from the Tch Laureates

As President’s Day rolls towards us, I’d like for you to consider, in the Jeffersonian spirit of exploration, a new set of Tch videos that focus on Learning Labs, an innovative type of collaborative professional learning. Laureate Kristin Gray has done a wonderful job packaging together a blog as well as three associated videos: Creating a Collaborative Culture of Learning, Teacher Strategy: Teacher Time Out, and Connecting the Dots (the last is interactive!). The idea behind Learning Labs is to shift professional development to a place where teachers are actively involved and feel ownership in the learning that occurs throughout the process. It’s high-quality content which I’m sure will add value to your practice.

Thanks for all that you do.

Q&A: Answer These Questions
Q: How can a new teacher build a rapport with students that balances friendliness with professional distance?
Q: I’m halfway through the year, and still looking to find bellwork/opening routines that work to get kids focused and settled. What have other 7th Grade ELA teachers used for bellwork?
Q: How do you take that first step? Any advice for a new teacher would be wonderfully accepted!
