If you are having trouble with students turning in work, I suggest Jim Faye's approach. Place 2 baskets on your desk and label one On time to be graded and the other Late to be graded during summer. Students will soon realize that this directly affects THEIR graduation date and is THEIR issue to solve.

Eric, Thank you so much for your classroom motivation in teaching process.

This is a tough one. I remember one senior said this to me, "I am done!", after he took EOC exam.
We still had three weeks or more of school days. I am planning to use the time after EOC for topics and activities that address concerns and interest of my students. Before EOC exams, graduation is a huge motivation. It helps to remind them of the requirements and credits.

I agree that praise is key to motivating students. It is easy to forget this tool. I plan to increase the number of times and improve the way I praise.

use music as much as possible, they look forward to what song are you going to use, and they can make up rhymes or rap to the music about what ever they are learning.

Thanks. Will do. I currently give out pencils and bonus points for positive behavior. I will start praising more often!
