I am a teacher coach for two performing arts schools. I am always looking for ways to enhance curriculum through arts integration. If you know of any great lessons, websites, or other resources, I would love to check them out. My school is 1st-6th grades.

Have you seen Teaching Channel's TV show? We have two arts integration episodes available online-- I'm sure you can glean some ideas from them!

      Hope these are helpful!

The other reading teacher and I worked with our art teacher to help our developing readers in grades 3-5 master literary vocabulary. The first few lessons consisted of the students illustrating onomatopoeia words she helped them choose, as well as similes and metaphors. She also works wIth K- 2 students on creative ways of learning letters and sight words- scratch paintings, outlining words & filling thm in with multisensiry materials. The students love learning this way- visual, auditory, kinesthetic, tactile- anything that provides an anchor for their new learning! Simple but effective. I look forward to seeing what others have to shre as well!

I went to a workshop hosted by Lighthouse Academies, and they had some really creative approaches to arts integration. Kids made up poems, rhymes and raps to remember grammar rules, wrote and illustrated post cards from the "land of Geometropolis" and more. The link below takes you to some sample lesson plans.
