      I wrote a blog post that discusses the importance of taking the time to collaborate with students to design a classroom management plan. When students are engaged in creating their own learning environment, the results are spectacular.

        Here is a behavior management system that is very focused on the positive, which in my own experience, tends to be kind of rare. It is mainly aimed at younger elementary schoolers, but could also be modified for other situations, I guess. Students earn "gold tags" for doing good things, and they add up to earn spots in the favorite centers on Fridays. Here's the link:

          This woman is AMAZING! She shares weekly lesson ideas on: math, ELA, and overall classroom management. I don't know how she manages such a detailed blog, but I am truly grateful that she's willing to share her genius.

            Classroom teaching is only effective if a student wants to take advantage of it. Unmotivated students are unlikely to embrace the learning process or participate in tutoring, homework help or other types of traditional mentoring programs.
