I am writing a paper on collaboration and I need to write it from the prospective of a first year teacher. I have no clue where to begin. I need a little advise and guidance because I am not a teacher yet. I have a few ideas but feel I should get some more information before beginning. I am planning to be a first or second grade teacher after I graduate if there is any teachers that have taught theses grades I would appreciate your imput.

Although I've never taught kids in grade school, I can imagine how having students work in collaborative teams can be that much more difficult than in mature grade levels. When I had students work in teams, it wasn't like an overnight result and it's an ongoing thing. I like the idea that students share their ideas with each other because when I used to be the front-talk-and chalk kind, all I heard was the chirping of crickets. I love eavesdropping into their conversations with each other especially when they problem solve. It excites me to hear the correct use of vocabulary words and use rigour in their conversations with each other. Then I can gauge their understanding better. What I don't like is not being able to be in each group all at the same time. I hope that kind of helps.
