Coaching--Helping Students with Special Needs

Nov 11, 2014 5:02am

This year, we began to place our special needs students (specifically, SLD and MICD and Asperger's/Autism) into all gen ed classrooms. I go into a few of those gen ed classes and teach English lab classes as well. What is a good way to coach the gen ed teachers so that they are more productive with my struggling students. Some are open to new ideas while others are more resistant (i.e. differentiation, leveled readers, adapted versions of texts, etc.)

As a general ed teacher, I would find seeing you model strategies in the classroom very helpful. You could also try to have a weekly email to the teachers with ideas/tips.
