Question Detail

Coaching - I am going back to the school that I retired from to continue to coach teachers in literacy. What advice do you have for working with the coach/facilitator who took my position and with the teachers? Thank you,

Try asking a lot of questions. You can also try being really open and excited to work with them again (you can share this via email, in person, etc.). You can also share with them your interest in growing and adapting to the school and how it has changed since you left.

I think its important for both of you to define and establish the role each of you will play at the school. Have a clear plan of who will work with whom, who will work with what subjects, etc. This may help avoid stepping on anyone's toes. With situations such as yours, misunderstandings can arise simply because there isn't clarity in duties and roles. It is very productive and caring of you to think about the other coach.
