Describe your most motivational pre-writing activity, leading to a prompt/response to literature. An activity or that grabbed your students so much they showed no hesitation in discussion and the writing that followed.

      I don't know if this is quite what you are looking for, but I used this video last year to get my students writing with point of view:

      We watched the video, discussed the plot and characters, how the music showed us the climax, and then they had to choose a narrator's point of view to write from. Then they had about 1 page to write the story from that point of view. I let them work in pairs. They loved this activity, and I saw some wonderful stories. I would be willing to share one of the best ones with you if you are interested.
