Do you have resources to support K-8 teachers with Close Read?

      Have you seen the Danielle Volta video at TchAUSL? I am also getting a lot from the book Notice and Note for close reading of information text. Sherly is already using it in her classroom, so she tell you more about it.

        I really like Sunday Cummins Book called Close Reading on Informational Text. Also, I started using Junior Great Books with my 3rd graders which i am loving for close reading through literature. It is really great to promote authentic student centered discussion backed through evidence about a interpretive question from the text. Lastly, not sure if you've seen the text dependent question stems categorized by standard... but I can post those in resources as well!

          Also my coach sent us this resource which might help too...

          Access to SCOPE (a Language Arts magazine by Scholastic) online.

          Articles, vocabulary, close reading questions, writing activities - all CCSS. Articles are PDFs so they can be projected or copied... awesome!

            I used Scope magazine last year, and it's very high interest for close reading. The kids loved it. Also, you may want to look into the Paideia seminar. It's awesome for facilitating a discussion while close reading.

                I also think excerpts from "Text Complexity" from Fisher and Frey can give a good overview of what close reading is and isn't.
