Hi Eunice! I am wondering what understanding the students have about "5" before they start skip counting? Are they attaching the number to a tens (or five) frame or 100s chart? I think counting while showing a representation helps students attach the number to the visual. I am a huge fan of choral counts for skip counting: http://tedd.org/?tedd_activity=test-math-activity-4
