Question Detail

How are you going to close out the year with your students?

Apr 28, 2014 10:18am

When teachers think about closing out the year with their students, what are you planning on doing to keep it easy and manageable? (Packing up student desks, organizing rooms, taking down bulletin boards, lessons for the last week of school, etc) This will be shared with first year teachers.

      Jeannie-

I always found that my students were amazing helpers. They loved taking down bulletin boards, counting books, and organizing the room. I would give all the students different jobs. They would even volunteer to wash the desks, sharpen all the colored pencils for the next year and organize my desk. (:

As for plans, I would always share the Common Core standards with students and ask them to reflect on how much they learned throughout the year. I would ask them which standards would be most helpful to review and then I would plan a fun, researched based project to work on that standard with them.

      Good luck,
      Katie
