Question Detail

How do I find a Common Core instructor in my area to answer questions in a large meeting setting?

Oct 3, 2013 8:42pm

I am trying to find a Common Core instructor (for lack of a better word) that would be able to come to a meeting of teachers, administrators and parents to answer questions they have about the Common Core. I have the location set up, I have the people interested in attending, but not the date because I don't have an expert to cordinate with their schedule. I have asked the Board of Education, Department of Education and the Superintendent for the State of Indiana and I have yet to receive an answer. Who can I contact? Who can I ask? What do I do next?

First of all, you may want to consider having two experts, one in ELA and one in math. In my experience, you really need someone with subject matter expertise to answer the types of content questions teachers and parents may ask. I present about the CCSS in ELA frequently to large audiences, but I would be blubbering if anyone asked me about math. (:

If you're interested in setting up a webinar for the presentation, I would be happy to answer questions. Also, I know many experts in math as well. If you're looking for someone local, I've presenting at BCSC in Columbus multiple times and have some strong connections there. If you'd like me to contact the administrators to see if they know anyone, I'd be happy to connect you with them.

      Feel free to contact me.

Thank you Katie, I have been directed to some individuals in the Indianapolis, IN area but they turn out to be paid lobbyist and not actual informed people who can answer direct questions. I would really appreciate any help I can get to get some of these parents questions answered.

Would it be possible to send me a list of your questions? What are your initial concerns? Maybe we can start with that.

Contact me directly at and we can talk more about this. I would be happy to answer questions in a webinar to hook you up with someone in the Columbus area who is an actual educator.
