I am teaching a class on aircraft design and simulation using model airplanes and six lab stations and 5 computer simulator stations. The class is 32 so I have groups of about 5 or 6 students. How do I keep the other 3 engaged in the experiment while the 3 who are on the station are actually working. I don't want the 3 with nothing to do just copying the work of the 3 engaged students. I have asked for more computers, but that is not going to happen this year.

Are there other tasks you can assign to them? Reading an article, writing up results, taking notes on what is happening on the computer? Then have the students switch after a given amount of time?
