how do i plan lessons in a block schedule

      With block schedule, you time to do a longer warm up type problem with discussion, present new material, practice/classwork time for students, do group work/projects, and wrap up. I really liked the move to block schedule and it didn't take very long to adjust. Good luck!

        One of the best things you can do is split the class into several learning module as Teri said below. You also need to write expectations on the board or on the Smart Board so kids can see them. I also wrote times on the board so kids could self monitor when they had to go to the next learning module in the period. Sometimes you will be able to show several movie clips and have short discussions instead of showing a whole movie like Gandhi for 90 minutes. Kids will go to sleep, but if you talk about things he was saying and ideas he was trying to promote, kids tap into that and love to discuss global issue. That is real world social studies.
