      Hi Dee,

I hope your first few months teaching kindergarten have been amazing! I'm not sure if you still need support. I just saw your question and wanted to offer some ideas that have worked for me in my classroom.

      1) Offer many areas with imaginative play things (dress up, blocks, kitchen, dolls, etc.)

      2) Allow for free choice time each day for the class. This gives you time to observe the kids at play and notice who needs support in making independent choices, pull kids to work on specific skills, and gives them a chance to work on their social/emotional skills.

      3) Do lots of mixed level, flexible groups during all areas of your day. This allows you to mix up groups of kids and work on a variety of skills with them.

      4) Use lots of songs to teach concepts!

      Happy teaching!
