Question Detail

I am the Dean od Students at a middle school. I would like to start a merit system in relation to student behavior and classroom management. I am looking for examples/suggestions as to what that could look like and it's structure.

My school, we're the Bulldogs, uses BARRK tickets. BARRK stands for Be Here, Attentive, Respectful, Responsible, and Kind. Teachers can give the tickets to students who are modelling good behavior. Sometimes the admin give us something particular to look for. For instance, at the beginning of the year, its usually students getting to class on time. The admin collect donations from local businesses and also spend some school money on prizes. The prizes range from a free smoothie in the cafeteria to gift certificates to local fast food restaurants to gas cards to electronics. There are boxes in the cafeteria, one per prize, and students put their BARRK tickets in the box of the prize they hope to win.
