Question Detail

I 'm a new guest teacher. I'm 63 y/o grandmother and have no trouble taking charge of my 14 grandchildren, BUT, I had a class of 4th grade boys that kicked my behind today! I tried rewarding them with school bucks for good behavior, taking it away for bad behavior, giving them a check mark and a report to their regular teacher. I even had an assistant for the afternoon who assigned them laps at recess tomorrow. They yelled, wouldn't stay in their seats, horse play, you name it. I was really mad at myself for not being able to get them in control. Ideas please!!

Hi! First- Kudos to you for tackling this challenge. Is this going to be a long term or a short term plan?

I want to know what you had tried to do. Did you try writing their names on the board? Have you tried writing them up and send to the office? Most of what you do in the beginning of the class determines how it's all going to go down. Did you let them know what your expectations are? Sorry, I don't know where to start. But there's a lot of good resources out there too if you google things online beginning with key words "classroom management" or "behavior" here
