I need any help on what student product should be or look like for Reading Standard RI2.9. Compare and contrast two text on the same topic. We want to use a top hat organizer to better define the comparisons but are at a loss as to what our expectations should be. Does any one have an exemplar or an idea of where my team can look for help? Our writing prompt is "after having read two texts on tropical rainforest, explain how the most important points in each text are alike and different". Are we expecting too much by having them turn a reading standard into written form?

My AC Team needs clarification on "students will be able to" part of standard RI2.9.

      Thank you for your reply. I think we might set it up like the third grade informative/explanatory piece listed in the appendix instead of creating a compare/contrast paragraph...maybe create a document the presents main idea of both and then a heading called similarities and then a heading called difference and then a concluding section.

      I'll discuss it with my team.
