Question Detail

I truly hope I can write this as succinctly as possible. In Wenatchee, WA, there are elementary & middle school after-school activities for students who are academically challenged. Besides homework, each afternoon offers a wide range of activities: art, computer, science, and dance, for which I am a dance instructor. At first, the 3rd and 4th graders I taught were difficult as dance is not for everyone & it was mandatory. Eventually, the supervisors created a "Dance Club" allowing students to sign up regardless of grade level & this proved to be more successful as students who actually wanted to dance signed up. This does not mean that these students want to learn to dance, but rather they simply want to dance. I am a passionate dance teacher & so want to teach a bit of technique, to try to impart the beauty of music and how music influences our bodies to more, etc.

I have watched all the videos Tch offers as far as including creative dance and body movement into the classroom; However, if there are any dance teachers out there who have had similar experiences to what I'm trying to explain, I would so appreciate your input and experience. Thanks so much.Leslie
