I posted this in response to a similar question earlier:

What about having them form their own nations within small working groups, and then have them use the constitution as a guide to draft a constitution for their own nation?

There are interactive games that come complete with bound gamebooks that allow the students to become an indivdual member of the Constitutional Convention of 1787. The game has a 5 week set and an 8 week set. It allows the students to become immersed in the various factions and stances during the convention. The students do not reenact the convention but redraft the constitution as a whole. When I participated in this game upon the drafting of the our new constitution we then had to compare and contrast our document to the real constitution. This involves your higher order thinking skills as well as Bloom's Taxonomy.

I hold a constitution convention and they play the founding fathers and draft the document. I have manipulated it so it works out the correct way.
