How can I help ELA teachers plan effective lessons for the CCSS? Teachers I work with are currently "doing what they've done before" and finding CCSS that tie to the "old activities".

The best way for you to help ELA teachers plan effective lessons is to help strengthen the core components of lesson plans. Teachers might be doing their "old activities", but that does not mean that the lessons are effective. Try to strengthen the goals and objectives and make sure they are obtainable, measurable, concrete, and can be assessed. Then work on helping teachers strengthen their activating activities, guided and unguided practice sessions with students. Finally, focus on reflection, summary, and assessment, and the ELA teachers will no doubt improve.
