Resources for in depth planning?

Mar 29, 2015 9:45am

I am a new teacher and cannot find any information on how to combine the CCSM, local standards, and your local curriculum to create Lessons. I don't know if I'm just missing something obvious but the only places I've found anything remotely similar is graduate level university classes. There must be more easily accessible information since I assume that Every teacher does this daily. Any links or tips would be awesome )

This is a great blog post that links to many different lesson/unit planning resources that might help you.

First off, welcome to teaching! It's the greatest job in the world, even as frustrating as it can be. Unfortunately, there aren't any "magic bullets." The post Jasmine recommended is great. There are terrific resources there. I'd also recommend getting on Twitter and Google+ to connect with teachers who may have ideas for you. What subjects or topics are you planning for? If you were a new teacher in my district, I'd recommend following the CCSS mostly. Your local standards shouldn't be terribly different. Keep asking questions here and give us some more info. We'd love to help support you.

check out for resources (including google templates) for planning. Tool 4 specifically provides structure to consider integration of CCSS and NGSS as well as previously used curriculum materials/resources.
