Question Detail

Should we be teaching 8th grade Common Core material for all students (regardless of math level) and differentiating for the various levels in regards to each class?

In the past, we have had half of our students in an accelerated math class and half in a regular math class. We have adjusted our current curriculum this year to be focusing on Common Core material for all math classes.

We have had questions in regards to our accelerated math classes (Algebra) and what we should be teaching, whether it should be Common Core material for either 8th grade or 9th grade. Since 75% of what we currently cover in 8th grade Algebra is 8th grade Common Core material, should we be teaching 8th grade Common Core material for all students (regardless of math level) and differentiating for the various levels in regards to each class? Should we focus on the 9th grade Common Core material for our Algebra classes? Any help would be appreciated.
