Student Choice In Making Assessments?

When designing assessments for you class, do you allow your students to give input? If so, how much input do you give them?

      I think this depends on the project/piece of work being assessed. I find it helpful to have students help determine the parts of a rubric by using an exemplar piece of work/professional piece of work. Having the students decide what makes the piece work or quality gives them more buy in on their own project.
