Thoughts on popularity?

May 27, 2013 9:00pm

I'm an education student and my group and I are working on a presentation about popularity in kindergarten and grade 6. We're trying to find the things that make a child popular and how it has changed between those grades. We have been trying to contact teachers and see what their experiences have been in their classrooms. Any thoughts would help!

The same things that have made kids popular years go are true today: strength, intelligence, good looks, money, and power. Those came up on the lists that i asked students to write down on what makes a student popular.

Kinder through second grade popularity is based on who is the smartest, who can run fast or play a certain playground game well. They also consider friendly people popular. The upper grade kids are similar to middle school in that it's about clothes, make up, and wit. It changes at about the middle of third grade from what I've experienced.
