What is horizontal and vertical curriculum?

      Vertical curriculum alignment often refers to content/skills being aligned between grade levels (for example something taught in kindergarten is built upon in first grade). Horizontal alignment usually refers to an alignment of content/skills within a grade level (for example, teaching number then addition so that skills are being taught in a succession that makes sense).
