In class, I focus more on the skills good readers use to identify the meaning of words they don't know. For example, we spend a lot of time on context clues or discuss complex vocab in Paideia seminars. We also talks a lot about affixes and how they can help to give readers hints about words. When we are reviewing vocab, the words are always up on a Word Wall so we can refer to them throughout the year once we know them.
Hope this helps!
