Vertical alignment in education refers aligning curriculum within and across grade levels. Curricular concepts build upon each other as the student progresses. For example, in kindergarten children learn their alphabet, in first grade they began to form words with the letters of the alphabet, in second grade they work on sentence structure with those words.
