      Susan-

I taught seventh grade ELA for the past nine years. The Common Core notes figurative language and biblical allusions, so so focused on simile, metaphor, personification, hyberbole, and allusion.

      Hope this helps!

Thanks. How about hyperbole, understatement, idiom, irony?

You can find interactive cooperative ELA middle school activities on www.literacystationinspiration.com. There are stations for practicing figurative language concepts and idioms.
