It really depends on the child's age and areas of need. Is the student wandering around the room? Then schedule this into the routine. Is work not being completed? Have the student do a certain amount in 5 minutes, set a timer, and see if they can beat the clock. Give a fidget toy or something to keep hands busy during listening times. If you can give more specifics, I can give lots of strategies that have worked for me over the years. Sometimes we have to adapt to a child, instead of making them adapt to us.
