When will there be teaching videos available that model how to teach a math lesson using the rigorous instruction required by Common Core? How wll the teaching of the basic algorithmic facts of math be incorporated into the indept (applicable) teaching of math?

I don't understand how you can give students a real world situation to solve (in math) without teaching the computational portion of math. For example, how can I give my students a real life situation that involves multiplying fractions (a party is planned for 50 guests, but the recipe only serves 10) without teaching the principals of multiplying and/or adding fractions (adding fractions requires like denominators, changing a mixed number to an improper fraction to multiply, how to multiply fractions). How are we suppose to teach rigorously without teaching the foundational skills.

The Common Core requires a balance of conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and application. Research shows that conceptual understanding leads to fluency in procedural skills. The idea of rigor is that all three are taught in balance.
