The Scholastic site and their book wizard tool allow you to search for books by various levels and age. Of course they are only Scholastic published books. They also have a neat BookAlike tool that allows you to search for books that are similar styles. For example, if your student loves Harry Potter, but it is very difficult for him/her, you can find other books that are a similar style at an easier reading level.

These sites aren't lists necessarily, but they can help with some leveled text.

newsela.com offers nonfiction articles at various Lexile levels

rewordify.com allows you to type in text and it will adjust the text to a simpler level

      Hope they are helpful!

If you are in NYC, try the Bank Street bookstore or library.

Most of the websites level books based on readability levels and not content. For example, Of Mice and Men is rated at 4.0-4.8 yet this book is clearly not appropriate for fourth graders based on its content. Try using the Fountas and Pinnell leveling system. It is the only system I know of that rates based on multiple factors.

Surely you need to think about the students' ability not their age as their age may be less than their ability level and vice versa. Try the following for some great book lists: http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1334.Best_Australian_literature_for_children OR
