Making DNA Concrete & Comprehensible
Lesson Objective: Students participate in active games to comprehend DNA concepts
Grades 9-12 / Science / Integrating Reading

Thought starters

  1. See how students experience codes in concrete ways Why does Mr. Evans begin the lesson with the "flag code" and then a "color code" experience instead of DNA coding?
  2. How could you modify some of these activities to make them easy to implement in your class?

Love this lesson, but beware that he did not use anticodons on the tRNA to show it is complimentary to the mRNA. That should be changed. Both transcription and translation happen with complimentary codes because of the chemical bonds being formed.
